Crystal Ball Photography... Video!!

So this is something I have been meaning to do for a while. Recently I purchased a crystal ball from eBay. I have seen some amazing photos by using a crystal ball and thought 'It looks amazing and it's something I haven't done before so let's try it!' I have experimented with it to get the hang of it but didn't post any of those photos on my photography blog because I wanted this project to be what you guys see first!

I went to Abbey Park in Leicester, with the ball and my trusty Canon 700D. I was just going to take normal photographs but I decided to make a video with photos as well... I wanted to use the skills I've learnt from my first year at Uni and make a project around it.

It went great! I had such an amazing time producing the piece of work. I would love to develop the piece of work further and travel around Leicester with the crystal ball and my camera and make more YouTube Videos!

A Day in The Life

I ran out of ideas on what to photograph, so I searched Google for some project ideas and came across ' A Day in The Life' which I thought sounded interesting so I gave it a go. I decided to photograph a day which didn't include me just sitting at home all day, so I chose Saturday. I photographed things that I did that would be interesting to see and not just the usual activities such as watching tv.

Saturday Morning: 10am

Pure Gym

Photographing myself at gym was definitely not easy to do. I'm self conscious about the way I look and everyone at gym looks at you when you take photos, so I found it hard but I overcame it and took these four photos which is what I did  at gym. I asked my friend to photograph me after I set up the camera for him.

Saturday Afternoon: 12pm

Late Breakfast After Gym

Due to me going gym, I recently have started to diet.I decided to photograph what I ate for breakfast because I had something different. Having one slice of 50/50 toast and a Banana with a cup of green tea (Green tea isn't the most delicious thing!)

Saturday Afternoon: 2pm

Youtube

After gym and eating breakfast, I find myself the best way to relax is just watching Youtube Videos. I definitely prefer it over TV due to the amount of content on the website. I watch a lot of gaming videos, podcasts, music videos etc.

Saturday Evening 7pm

Dinner

For dinner, my oldest brother decided we should go to Asda and cook chicken and boil some vegetables. I have never tried Cauliflower, Broccoli, Kale or String Beans before. I photographed my brother cooking the food to try develop my food photography skills further, plus it's still photographing what happens on that day. I definitely didn't like the vegetables but did enjoy it as a healthy meal. My brother and I have decided to cook together more often and maybe I will photograph it and share it.

So that was my Saturday. I did enjoy the project, it was different and fun. I have wanted to do this project for a while but I had nothing going on in my life that was remotely interesting to capture so I had to stall it until now. I'm glad I captured the moments throughout the day, and was able to share the photographs and the outcomes.

Recently, I have joined up for the gym and ended up getting myself a new photography project. I have a personal trainer who is an old friend of mine since primary school and he wanted some pictures taken for him and his new business in which he wants to become a personal trainer. I thought why not help him and help myself at the same time.

The reason why I have edited the photos like this are due to his other posts. He only uploads in black and white and he wanted me to edit the pictures leaving the weights in colour. This is 'Pop Art'. There aren't many pictures yet, but I'd like to develop these pictures into a further project and see how his body develops in the future.

My brother hasn't stopped asking me for a photoshoot with him since I took photos for my other brother. About 8pm I agreed to a photoshoot and he was the fussiest person ever. He was so confused on what to do when being photographed so I spoke to him, made him laugh until he felt comfortable and came up with some poses he wanted. It did take 2 sessions however as he was slightly frustrated... But in the end, we got there and ended up with some photographs which he liked. Portraiture isn't really my thing, but I am slowly getting there and slowly enjoying it each time I do a portrait shoot.

he weather has been fantastic for the last couple of days, so my family decided to have a Barbecue. I thought it was a good opportunity to try something different and have a go at food photography. I had struggled to come up with ideas and what to photograph and I didn't want to go out and photograph the same things I have been for a few years now.  had a great day and had a fun experience capturing food in the sunlight, it was different to my usual style of photography and enjoyed it a lot that I may look further into food photography.

A fashion shoot with the brother! He recently recieved a tracksuit from a clothing label called ALPHALAB and he wanted some photos, this was a good opportunity for me to take photos and share them. I don't do much fashion photography, it isn't really my forte but I did enjoy taking these photos and loved the outcome of them. I think I enjoyed the location with the tunnel, it was something different and I haven't done a photoshoot there before.

Another one from my sports photography project for university. I was experimenting by getting the goalkeeper to do different stuff like jumping, kicking, throwing the ball, anything a normal goalkeeper would do in a football match. Obviously this wasn't a football match so I got to plan the shots I wanted to do. I do love this shot.  What you guys don't know is how many times it took me to capture this shot. I had to do it at least 15 times to be able to capture his hand and the ball in frame in the perfect position, after the 10th attempt I managed to find the right timing and this was the best shot from the other 5 attempts. If this was an advertising shot, I think it would be good for Sondico to use as it clearly shows their branding on the goalkeeper gloves and the football too.

Camera: Canon 5D Mark III
Shutter Speed: 1/4000
Aperture: F4
ISO: 400
