DMU Men's 3rd and 4th Football Team

I was asked to come along to the home game of the DMU Men's football team, where they play at Beaumont Park in Leicester. For the first time I took out a Canon 300mm lens which is an amazing lens for sports photography. Like last time, I used a fast shutter speed, allowing me to capture the fast movement of the players. I didn't realise I would be capturing two football games until we got to the arena, so I came up with the idea of photographing the 3rd team first and then the 4th, I also captured shots of both teams in training and getting ready for the matches.

De Montfort University vs Bishop Grosseteste University

DMU 2-0 BGU

One of my keen passions is sports. I love football and I love Photography, so I thought to combine the both and start building myself a portfolio and try to photograph some professional football matches next academic year. In the meantime, I decided to contact the my university's football team and to go to some of their games, home and away, and photograph their matches. So far I have been to one game and it went pretty well. I had taken two cameras with different lenses. I had my favourite, Canon 5D and my trusty 700D and also took a flash gun with me for better lighting. The key to sports photos are to have a fast shutter speed and a fairly high ISO of 400. Always use shutter priority or aperture priority when photographing fast moving subjects, this will help you get better and clean results instead of blurry shots.

Crystal Ball Photography!

These are the photographs that you see in the video! I love all of the photos, it did take a while to capture some of the shots as I wanted it perfectly focused but eventually I achieved the shots I wanted and had a good outcome to this project. I had a lot of fun photographing something different to my usual style of photography, it started off as an experiment and now I can see me developing this project further on, using different locations around Leicester and in the photography studio too!
