This is a piece of work which I absolutely love due to the stunning manipulation of the image which was edited in Adobe Photoshop. Manipulating the image into Black and White was a good idea but then to take it to another level and make this image even better was to use the history brush tool and bring back the color of the leaf. The purple gives the image more color and it is not from the original image but editing the curves and the levels of the image I was able to have this rotten purple effect and I think it makes the image more successful. The editing gives the leaf a 3D effect and makes it look like the leaf is coming out of the actual image.

This is a stunning image which I decided to turn into Black and White because i thought it gave the image a peaceful feeling. It shows a calm and relaxed atmosphere and it is definitely one of my favourite landscape images. The photograph was taken at Western Park where there was nothing but trees and beautiful scenery to capture. Western Park is beautiful but the weather was amazing and it gave me a huge opportunity to capture some amazing images.

Before I did the shoot, I researched floral photographers and found some great ideas on what I could do to link my work with theirs but make it unique. I decided to make this image historical rather than contemporary. There is a lot of detail being shown in the image due to the light hitting the top of the flower. I really love the shadows too. There is a lot of shadows in the image which helps give the historical effect/ But I wanted to make it even better so I added a orange photo filter on top which gives the vintage effect. I think without the shadows, the image wouldn't have worked as well as a vintage image.

In my honest opinion, this is my favourite image ever. Due to it being a close up image you can see a lot more detail in the image, such as the frost in the grass. The frost makes the image more successful and powerful by giving a cool and frozen effect. I really love the colors of the image. You have dark green which then slowly fades into a bright green and fades back into a dark shade of green which plays off as a cool effect.

I really love this landscape image as it makes me think of a crisp autumn morning walk. I also really love how the sun shines through the trees. I looked at some artists who did something similar and I wanted to recreate it but put my own name on it. Something that I wanted is the shadows of the trees. The shadows look mysterious and works well with the sun. This was taken early in the morning which helped with the frost that is slightly visible in the grass. This image is natural meaning I didn't manipulate any little part of the image as I loved it how I captured it.

I love still life. For an exam, I chose the topic to be around still life. I went to Tesco's and bought some flowers which had a variety of flowers such as roses and daisies. So in the studio, I thought close ups were the best choice to get some fantastic shots of flowers to bring out the details. Once I saw this image, I knew straight away what to do and how to manipulate the image. I removed the color from the image and then carefully chose a certain flower that I wanted to have color from the original image. I chose this flower due to it having a vibrant purple which I thought would contrast well with the black and white of the image.I cropped the image so the flower would be positioned in the center of the image which shows its importance in the image.

A close up shot of flowers are really the best way to go. I decided to go close up to blur out the background and so then the focus will be on the actual flower itself. At first I thought, a white flower against a white backdrop wont work but looking at this image, if anything it has made the image work even better. I really love how the bottom of the flower is blurred and looking towards the middle of the flower is focused and then at the top it is blurred again giving a cool effect to the image and it helps the audience to focus on the subject matter itself rather than its surroundings. The blur I used is tilt shift blur, which is one of my favourite blur tools in Photoshop because with the right picture and the right amount of blur, you can make an ordinary image into an extraordinary one.

My name is Rikhil Majithia and I am a photographer based in Leicester, England. I love landscape and still life which happens to be my key strength when it comes to photography. I have learnt a lot about photography in the last few years whilst in secondary school and college. I always think about composition and I will always try to get the best shot I can. I have done some portraiture work before and I did enjoy it but I found myself struggling to come up with different ideas and testing the boundaries. However when it comes to landscape I  feel I have more freedom, especially with the angles and the objects that I can capture.  When I was younger I went on a school trip to the Isle of Wight and this is where I held my first ever camera. I enjoyed looking at the sea and capturing images... definitely one of the best feelings I have ever experienced! In terms of equipment I feel I am better suited in working with a digital camera over film. A while ago I went to Bradgate Park with a film camera and when i went to process it.... no images came out at all!! I did enjoy the fact I was able to create different effects in the darkroom but in my opinion I am always going to be a digital man. I currently have a Sony A200 SLR camera. It isn't too bad but it isn't the best. For my first camera I am pretty happy with it but I will be upgrading to a Canon. However I truly believe it's not the camera that determines a photograph but an individuals ability to capture a moment.

I haven't been a photographer or a blogger for long but I'm always learning and wanting to better myself. I decided to create this blog to document my work but I also hope hope this platform allows me to share my work with people around the world, people like you!
